I have a seasonal disorder. Cold weather makes me crave adventures. I am currently dreaming of language school. I hope to spend some time studying Spanish at the Malaca Instituto in Malaga, Spain. This has been a dream of mine for a long time. I speak Spanish, but I want to take it to the next level. This fabulous school is located with a view of the Mediterranean and the campus includes dormitory, classrooms, bar, and restaurant. In fact, just about anything a person might need is close at hand. There is plenty to do in Malaga, too. Plus, Competa is a short bus drive into the mountains. Of course, I will spend some time there reconnecting with friends as well. Going to school is not everyone’s cup of tea, but for me, it will be a dream come true.
Thanksgiving, which is celebrated in the United States and Canada, but not on the same day or in the same month, is quickly approaching. November has begun and with Hurricane Sandy keeping the news centers busy, we wonder what winter has in store for us. I can tolerate a bit of winter, but eventually I get kind of anxious for less cold, gray days on the horizon. There is an American tradition where retired folks from the north head south when it grows cold, but I leave the country, instead.
So with Thanksgiving on the horizon and winter close behind, I find myself thinking once again of places far away. Oh, my granddaughter turns three this month, too. I have curtailed my travel adventures a bit since she was born. No regrets either! She has entertained me endlessly. However, the day awaits when I will squander more time abroad as my girl is growing up quickly. For now, I want to pass some time studying Spanish by the Mediterranean Sea. Tan tranquilo!
